Moscow: The Sultanate of Oman marks its inaugural participation with an official pavilion at the Moscow International Book Fair, which commenced today at the Gostiny Dvor Center in Moscow. The event sees the People's Republic of China as the guest of honor for this year's edition. According to Oman News Agency, Oman's presence at the fair aims to enhance the Omani cultural footprint internationally. The pavilion serves as a strategic platform to showcase Omani intellectual and cultural output and to foster new avenues of cooperation with cultural and academic bodies, publishing houses, and researchers. The pavilion highlights the breadth of Omani intellectual, cultural, and cognitive contributions, portraying Omani identity and its influence in literature, history, knowledge, and tourism. This initiative aims to bolster communication with Russian and global cultural communities. The pavilion features contributions from the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and Sultan Qaboos University. A diverse array of publications and content reflects the cultural, scientific, and heritage landscape of Oman. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth presents a selection of literary and cultural works that capture the Omani cultural landscape, alongside books on literature, creativity, history, and national identity. Sultan Qaboos University offers publications and research by Omani scholars, showcasing the scientific advancements and research initiatives in Oman and underscoring the university's role in knowledge creation. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism provides specialized publications on Oman's heritage, history, archaeology, and cultural legacy, alongside materials highlighting Oman's tourism and cultural assets, emphasizing heritage as a national identity pillar. The Ministry of Information's section features publications on Oman's history, culture, identity, and civilizational legacy, along with materials on media, literature, thought, hi story, and international relations. A special feature of the pavilion is the "Ayn" digital platform, displayed on a screen, featuring diverse media content, high-quality visual productions, and a collection of e-books. Documentary films on Oman's history and civilization, as well as a film on Omani-Russian relations, are showcased on the main screen. An interactive screen offers audiobooks for visitors, while the "Children's Interface" of the "Ayn" platform presents educational and cultural materials aimed at youth, aligning with the 4th edition of the Moscow International Children's Book Fair. The Moscow International Book Fair hosts over 300 publishing houses from Russia and beyond, running until September 6. The event includes over 400 cultural and professional events, such as author interactions, book launches, seminars, and literary discussions, alongside a professional program on publishing industry issues and cultural cooperation. Accompanying programs address topics on the future of books, publish ing, literature, translation, culture, and reading, as well as technological impacts on content creation.
