The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, will take part for the first time in the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale scheduled to be held from 10 May to 23 November 2025. The event will take the theme ‘Integrating Human and Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Architecture’. Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture, and Commissioner General of the Sultanate of Oman’s Pavilion at Venice Biennale, said, ‘The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in Venice Architecture Biennale underscores the extent of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth is keen on enhancing Oman’s cultural presence abroad, establishing international cultural relations and consolidating cultural diplomacy, which constitutes one of the pillars of Oman Vision 2040.’
He explained that Oman’s participation aims to boost the role undertaken by Oman as a leading global cultural destination and its initiatives to build bridges of communicatio
n between the different peoples of the world. Evidence to this approach is Oman’s hosting of the award ceremony for the winners of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2022 (5th anniversary), said Al Busaidi, noting that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth is striving to position itself as a destination for culture and art on the world cultural map – a way to contribute to cultural economy in the country.
For her part, Eng. Majda Al Hana’ee, Curator of the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the Venice Biennale, said that the event constitutes an opportunity to showcase the country’s architectural identity, highlight its rich urban culture and keep pace with innovative design.
