Oman Participates in Meeting of GCC Legislative Officials

Kuwait city: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, took part in the 29th meeting of the GCC Permanent Committee of Officials of Legislative Departments, which was held in the State of Kuwait. The Omani delegation was led by Dr. Yahya Nasser Al Khusaibi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting addressed several topics on its agenda, with a focus on the strategy for the work of the GCC Permanent Committee of Officials of Legislative Departments. It also reviewed the outcomes of the meetings of the committee of experts and specialists from the legislative departments regarding the executive bylaw for the Unified Law for International Transport between the GCC states.

The committee further examined the work of the task force involved in compiling legislative principles issued by the legislative departments of the GCC states. Discussions included a proposal from the General Secretariat, specifically the Assistant Secretariat for Legislative and Legal Affairs, concerning awareness-raising on legislative policy and the Legislative Drafting Guide for the unified laws of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The use of artificial intelligence in the work of the legislative departments in the GCC states was also a point of discussion.

The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs represents Oman in the meetings of the Permanent Committee of Legislative Departments of the GCC states. It serves as the competent authority in Oman, as per the mandates assigned by Royal Decree No. 88/2020.
