Kuwait City: The Sultanate of Oman today took part in the ninth meeting of the GCC Ministers of Education, hosted in Kuwait. The Omani delegation was led by Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education. The gathering focused on boosting cooperation and integration among the GCC education ministries.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting reviewed the Gulf Strategy for Drug Control (2025-2028), discussing proposals for educational and training program development. The assembly also explored enhancing the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) to support the ministries’ work and adapt to educational changes.
In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the ministers agreed for ABEGS to integrate some national indicators of GCC education ministries into Goal 4 (Quality Education) reports, showcasing the GCC’s global role. The strategic plan of the GCC Scouts and Guides Committee (2026-2030) was examined, including various scouting programs and activities.
Further discussions involved a study by ABEGS on financial literacy enhancement for students. The meeting also evaluated initiatives from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on school sports, sports exchanges, and strategic transformations in general education.
