Oman Participates in 25th Meeting of GCC Higher Education Ministers in Kuwait

Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman today took part in the 25th meeting of GCC Ministers of Higher Education and Research, held in the State of Kuwait. Oman’s delegation was headed by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The meeting discussed matters related to enhancing cooperation and integration among GCC states in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting focused on common systems of higher education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Discussions included standard methods of teaching and learning in higher education institutions, the development of community partnerships, and regional and international ties. The participants also considered ways to envisage future growth to keep pace with rapid updates.

The meeting addressed digital transition and cybersecurity in higher education, the upgrading of the ‘Gulf Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education,’ and the enhancement of international cooperation. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the GCC Secretariat General’s proposal to update the structure of committees and teams responsible for higher education and research, along with a proposal to incorporate the subject of ‘GCC citizenship’ into the curricula of GCC higher education institutions.
