Baku: The Sultanate of Oman today took part in the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States, held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan. Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation among member states to support sustainable economic development.
According to Oman News Agency, Al Maawali highlighted the necessity for intensified efforts through joint parliamentary action in response to rapid economic development and global challenges. He emphasized the development of legislative frameworks to support investment and innovation, as well as improving governance and transparency to build more resilient economies.
Al Maawali also reaffirmed Oman's commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, advocating for prioritizing dialogue and backing international efforts aimed at enhancing security, stability, and peace. Additionally, the Shura Council engaged in a consultative meeting of the Arab Group, part of the Union of Councils of OIC Member States.
The conference addressed regulatory issues, including the election of a chairman for the 21st session of the conference.
