Oman Attends WHO Meeting on Polio Eradication Certification

Sharm el sheikh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, participated in the 40th regional meeting of the Regional Commission for the Certification of Poliomyelitis Eradication organized by the World Health Organization (WHO). The meeting took place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from June 9 to 11.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting reviewed reports from countries within the Eastern Mediterranean Region. It focused on evaluating the progress made and identifying challenges faced by polio eradication programs. A significant highlight of the meeting was the Commission's confirmation that Oman remains free of polio.

This achievement underscores Oman's ongoing commitment to public health and its efforts to enhance national measures for prevention and immunization. The Commission praised Oman's comprehensive national initiatives, which have maintained this public health milestone for over three decades, aligning with internationally recognized standards and practices.
