Ibra: The National Ophthalmology Conference kicked off today in the Wilayat of Ibra under the theme ‘Updates and Challenges’. The event was organized by the Ministry of Health, represented by Ibra Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department, in partnership with the Ministry’s Ophthalmology Program. It aimed to enhance public awareness and discuss the latest developments, challenges, and research in ophthalmology and eye surgery.
According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Mahmoud Yahya Al Dhuhli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah. The conference saw the participation of 200 specialized medical, nursing, and allied health professionals in ophthalmology from government health institutions. Expert consultants and specialists from the Ministry of Health, the Medical City Hospital for Military and Security Services, and the University Medical City delivered a series of lectures.
The conference featured six scientific sessions with twelve speakers from various ophthalmology sub-specialties. Topics covered included advances and challenges in optometry, corneal diseases, pediatric ophthalmology, innovations in cosmetic eye procedures, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, challenges in glaucoma management, and developments in retinal diseases.
