Meeting Reviews Updates on Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone Project

Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, met today at the Authority's headquarters in Muscat Governorate with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and Group CEO of DP World. The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone Project with DP World and the upcoming stages for implementing this strategic project.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting further touched on the executive steps for the first phase project of developing and operating Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone, for which the designated area for the developer company is 14 square kilometers, expandable to reach 24 square kilometers in a second phase, according to the development plan submitted by the developer company on 26 May 2025. The two sides affirmed their commitment to close coordination to ensure the project is completed on schedule and according to the agreed-upon standards, while maintaining the momentum of work throughout the subsequent development stages.

Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone is an important tributary for enhancing economic activities with the United Arab Emirates, benefiting from the main road network and its proximity to Sohar Port and Jebel Ali Port in the Emirate of Dubai. The zone is located in Al Rawdah area in the Wilayat of Mahdah in Al Buraimi Governorate. The site is approximately 85 kilometers from the Wilayat of Al Buraimi and 125 kilometers from the Wilayat of Sohar, enhancing its role as a gateway for trade and industrial cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

The project is expected to attract high-value investments in the logistics, light manufacturing, and industrial services sectors, while simultaneously supporting job creation and knowledge transfer.
