Launch of HM the Sultan’s Award for Research, Innovation Supports March of Science, Knowledge

Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation confirmed that the launch of His Majesty the Sultan's Award for Research and Innovation is an initiative embodying the insightful vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

According to Oman News Agency, this initiative highlights the ongoing Royal commitment to consolidating the status of science and knowledge, strengthening the scientific research and innovation ecosystem as a fundamental pillar of comprehensive and sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman.

Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, stated that this award represents a practical translation of the Royal keenness in empowering Omani citizens and investing in research and creative potential. She noted that such efforts contribute to the transition toward a knowledge and innovation-based economy, enhancing Oman's regional and international competitiveness in alignment with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

She added that the award serves as a national incentive for researchers and innovators. It provides a platform to honor scientific and creative excellence while encouraging applied research with a developmental impact. By linking research outcomes with societal needs and development requirements, the award fosters integrated roles between academic and research institutions and both the government and private sectors.

Furthermore, the Minister pointed out that the award will support the national innovation environment by stimulating a culture of creativity and knowledge-based entrepreneurship. It aims to empower young researchers, attract talent, and strengthen local and international research partnerships. These outcomes are expected to influence the development of national policies and programmes, creating innovative solutions for high-priority national challenges across various sectors.
