Japanese Stocks Rise on US Bond Market Stabilization Measures

Muscat: Japan's Nikkei index rose today, supported by US measures aimed at stabilizing the bond market, which helped restore investor confidence and supported demand for higher-risk assets.

According to Oman News Agency, the Nikkei 225 index rose 1.36 percent to close at 66,216.79 points, while the broader TOPIX index gained 1.18 percent to 4,059.73 points. Sumitomo Metal Mining led the gains, rising 10.76 percent, followed by Sumitomo Pharma, which increased 8.48 percent, and Kansai Electric Power, which rose 8.37 percent, posting its biggest daily gain since August 2024. On the other hand, Aozora Bank topped the list of decliners, with its shares falling 3.11 percent, followed by Ibiden, which declined 2.87 percent, and Nippon Steel, which fell 2.20 percent.
