Muscat: President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his support in advancing peace efforts in the region and mediating between Iran and the United States to reach a mutually respectful and satisfactory agreement.
According to Oman News Agency, the Iranian President, in an exclusive interview with Oman News Agency and Oman TV, emphasized the long-standing and deep-rooted relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He described his recent meeting with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik as constructive.
The President highlighted that his official visit to Oman aimed to explore joint cooperation and discuss regional and global developments, emphasizing Iran’s policy of fostering strong relations and cooperation with neighboring countries.
He mentioned that the visit involved meetings between officials from both nations and resulted in several agreements, memoranda, and executive programs in fields such as health, renewable energy, economy, and trade. Both parties are committed to implementing the agreed measures.
The Iranian President noted the advanced stages of consultation and coordination between Iran and Oman on political and economic issues, stressing their aligned positions on regional matters, notably the Palestinian cause. He also mentioned efforts to overcome challenges from sanctions on Tehran through air and maritime cooperation and plans to increase trade volume to over $20 billion.
He stated that Oman will act as a hub for exchanging and exporting goods between the two countries and beyond, enhancing cooperation with the region, Central Asia, and African states.
Regarding the nuclear talks with the United States, the President stressed the importance of adhering to international laws for conducting scientific research on uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes. He reiterated Iran’s focus on using nuclear energy for medicine, energy, and economic purposes, not for weapons.
The President also called on the international community to stop the violence committed by the Israeli occupation army against civilians in Gaza, which has faced prolonged suffering.
