HM The Sultan Visits Key Historical Sites in Algiers

Algiers: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today visited the Memorial of the Martyr, also known as Maqam E’chahid, and the National Museum of Moudjahid in the Algerian capital, Algiers. This visit is part of His Majesty’s current itinerary in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

According to Oman News Agency, upon His Majesty’s arrival at the site on Al-Ham Plateau, he was greeted by a guard of honour and several Algerian officials. His Majesty proceeded to place a wreath at the Memorial of the Martyr. Following this, he received a briefing on the old city, the port, and the surrounding areas from atop the plateau.

His Majesty then toured the National Museum of Moudjahid, where he was given a detailed explanation of its history, collections, and mission. At the end of his visit, His Majesty inscribed a message in the VIP guestbook, expressing his pleasure at visiting the museum and appreciation for the warm welcome received. He also conveyed his wishes for the museum’s continued success.

The National Museum of Moudjahid, established in 1972, serves as a historical and cultural institution aimed at preserving the memory of the Algerian Revolution. It features a scientific library with thousands of references across various disciplines. His Majesty was accompanied by members of the official delegation during this visit.
