Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has sent a cable of congratulations to Andy Burnham on the occasion of his appointment as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

According to Oman News Agency, His Majesty expressed his sincere sentiments and best wishes for UK Premier's continued health, happiness, and success in his new role, and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly British people. His Majesty also expressed his hope for the further strengthening of cooperative and friendly relations between the two countries, in a manner that serves the greater good and mutual interests of both countries' peoples.
