Gold Slips as Oil Surge Fuels Inflation and Rate Hike Fears

Muscat: Gold prices fell today as escalating US-Iran hostilities pushed Brent crude above $90 a barrel, stoking inflation concerns and reinforcing expectations that the Federal Reserve may need to raise interest rates to curb price pressures.

According to Oman News Agency, spot gold declined 0.4 percent to $4,000.55 per ounce, after touching a two-week low on Friday and shedding 2.5 percent over the week. US gold futures for August delivery slipped 0.3 percent to $4,005.90 per ounce.

Asian markets were mixed at the start of a week packed with earnings from major technology companies, which will provide a fresh test of investor confidence in the AI rally.

Oil prices jumped three percent, with Brent crude surpassing $90 a barrel.

Spot silver rose 0.9 percent to $56.42 per ounce, platinum gained 0.1 percent to $1,592.97 per ounce, and palladium edged up 0.3 percent to $1,251.74 per ounce.
