Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, engaged in important telephone discussions with Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
According to Oman News Agency, during the conversation with his Palestinian counterpart, the Minister focused on the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause and the international efforts aimed at maintaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The Foreign Minister reiterated Oman's steadfast support for the Palestinian people's rights, including their right to self-determination and the creation of an independent state, as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution No. 2803. Both ministers highlighted the crucial need for the Palestinian side's full involvement in efforts to achieve these objectives.
In his dialogue with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, the Foreign Minister addressed the broader regional developments and the swift-moving challenges affecting security and stability. He emphasized Oman's commitment to the vital role of the Arab League in managing tensions and advancing de-escalation and political solutions. Both leaders agreed on the importance of enhancing Arab-Arab consultations and coordination to protect shared Arab security and the region's overarching interests.
The discussions also covered the Palestinian issue and regional and international initiatives to curb escalation and stabilize the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. They reaffirmed the necessity of supporting political processes and enabling the Palestinian people to secure their legitimate rights, primarily the right to self-determination, in line with international resolutions.
