Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received Motegi Toshimitsu, Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs, in Muscat today. During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the friendship and cooperation ties between their respective countries, reaffirming their commitment to further develop this partnership across political, economic, and cultural dimensions.

According to Oman News Agency, the ministers emphasized the importance of political dialogue and the exchange of views on matters of mutual interest. They also addressed regional and international developments, focusing on efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote peaceful solutions, particularly concerning maritime navigation through the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. The ministers underscored the necessity of adhering to international law to ensure the security of international trade and the stability of global supply chains.

The discussions also explored opportunities to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Oman and Japan. Both sides showed interest in fostering partnerships between public and private sector institutions. The dialogue included potential expansion in the oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) sectors, as well as in renewable energy, hydrogen, and ammonia. Further cooperation in tourism, transport, environment, technology, maritime security, food security, and education sectors was also on the agenda.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Hosni, Head of the Asia and Pacific Department at the Foreign Ministry, Serizawa Kiyoshi, Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman, and several officials from both nations.
