Muscat: European stock indices open mixed in early trade today as markets were impacted by rising interest rates that pushed investors to sell technology stocks, at a time when European markets appeared less affected compared to Wall Street and Asian markets. In the main European markets, France's CAC 40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange rose 0.21%, in addition to the UK's FTSE 100 index in London that went up 0.08%. In contrast, Germany's DAX index on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange fell 0.08%, while Italy's Milan Stock Exchange index recorded a slight increase by 0.06%.
According to Oman News Agency, the mixed performance in European markets reflects varied investor reactions to the current economic climate, particularly with the influence of increasing interest rates. Investors seem to be cautious in their approach, balancing between selling off technology stocks and maintaining positions in other sectors. While some indices showed slight gains, the overall sentiment remains cautious as markets continue to adapt to the shifting economic indicators.
