Muscat: The European Union (EU) recorded a trade surplus of 39.2 billion Euros in agricultural products in 2024.
According to Oman News Agency, a statement released by the EU’s statistical office, Eurostat, revealed that agricultural exports from EU countries exceeded 234 billion Euros, while imports were valued at 194.9 billion Euros.
Eurostat highlighted that, in comparison to 2023, exports and imports grew by 2.8% and 6.7%, respectively. It was noted that the United Kingdom emerged as the EU’s main partner for agricultural goods exports in 2024, making up 23% of the total, with exports valued at nearly 54 billion Euros. The United States followed as the second largest partner, accounting for 12.8% of exports, surpassing 30 billion Euros.
The report further indicated that the EU predominantly imported agricultural goods from Brazil, which accounted for 8.8% or 17.1 billion Euros, and the United Kingdom, which accounted for 8.5% or 16.6 billion Euros.
