Attorney General of Swiss Confederation Delivers Lectures on Cybercrimes, Economic Crimes

Muscat: Stefan Bl¤ttler, Attorney General of the Swiss Confederation, today delivered two lectures on cybercrimes and economic crimes, as part of his current official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. During the lectures, which he delivered at the Public Prosecution Department’s premises in Muscat, Bl¤ttler gave an overview of the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Federal Office), its powers and the special nature of the Swiss legal system.

According to Oman News Agency, Bl¤ttler elaborated on the concept of cybercrimes and economic crimes, mechanisms for detecting them, reporting them and adjudicating them. He also reviewed related challenges and future prospects. In the lectures, Bl¤ttler laid emphasis on the importance of enhancing international cooperation to combat such crimes.

The lectures were organized within the context of cooperation between the Public Prosecution Department (Oman) and the Office of the Attorney General of the Swiss Confederation, with the aim of exchanging expertise and reviewing standard practices in combating transnational organized crime. The lectures were attended by judges, representatives of government departments concerned and members of the Public Prosecution department.
