Muscat: Asyad Container Terminal - Duqm received the vessel CMA CGM Vasco de Gama on its maiden visit to the terminal, marking a new milestone as the largest container ship to berth there since the start of its operations, and confirming its readiness to receive the new generation of ultra-large container ships.

According to Oman News Agency, the vessel has a capacity of 18,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). Its reception underscores the advanced operational readiness of Asyad Container Terminal - Duqm and its ability to handle the latest generation of mega container ships efficiently and safely, supported by modern infrastructure, berths with suitable operational depths, and operational capabilities that meet the growing requirements of the global container shipping sector.

Omar Mahmoud Al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports and Freezones, stated that receiving the vessel CMA CGM Vasco de Gama on its maiden call to Asyad Container Terminal - Duqm embodies the advanced operational capabilities enjoyed by the terminal and reflects the growing confidence that the Sultanate of Oman enjoys among major global shipping lines.
