Agreement Finalized for Inaugural Car Factory Development in Salalah

Salalah: A cooperation agreement was signed today in the Salalah Free Zone to prepare the technical and economic feasibility study for the establishment of the first car factory in the Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate.

According to Oman News Agency, the agreement was signed between Salalah Global City Company, a key player in the local zone, and Jiangsu Changhong Intelligent Equipment, a Chinese company known for its expertise in manufacturing car production and assembly lines. This collaboration highlights the confidence international companies have in Salalah’s investment environment, which boasts advanced infrastructure, strategic connectivity to ports and regional markets, and attractive incentives for industrial investors.

Jiangsu Changhong Intelligent Equipment is renowned in the smart systems industry for industrial equipment and car production lines. The company has collaborated with major global automotive brands including BMW, Volkswagen, Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, and BYD. With over 30 years of experience in establishing integrated car factories globally, Jiangsu Changhong brings substantial expertise to the project.

The development of this car factory aligns with the national strategy to create an integrated industrial system for electric vehicles. This initiative is set to bolster Salalah’s status as an industrial and logistics hub, supporting the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The project also complements Oman’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve Net-Zero by 2050.
