Madrid, Barcelona visit the Mestalla tonight for one of the most exciting fixtures of the 2018/19 LaLiga Santander season, with both sides moving on from their successful midweek trips to England.
Valencia earned a respectable 0-0 draw at Manchester United last Tuesday while Barcelona played excellent football on their way to defeating Tottenham 4-2 at Wembley, but neither side is dwelling on the past.
For Valencia, they’ve won just one of their seven league fixtures so far and haven’t won at home, so the pressure is there now that their focus returns to domestic competition.
As for Barcelona, they hope to end a run of three consecutive leagues matches without a victory – a 2-2 draw with Girona, 2-1 loss to Leganes and 1-1 draw with Athletic Club.
With Real Madrid dropping points at Alaves, this fixture becomes all the more important for the visitors, as they look to reboot their title defence, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
