Muscat, The Steering Committee for the Urban Strategy Project concluded today a series of discussion meetings and adoption of alternatives to regional urban strategies at the governorate level under the chair of Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al-Sunaidi, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning, Head of the Steering Committee for the Urban Strategy Project that was held successively since last July.

The consultative offices overseeing the development of regional urban strategies have reviewed the alternatives to urban development in the governorates in line with the approved national framework for urban development and the results of workshops on alternatives to urban strategy, as well as meetings of stakeholders in the governorates. The results of the technical evaluation of the alternatives were also presented by experts (multi criteria appraisal framework- MCAF).

Decisions of the committee are to be submitted to the Supreme Council for Planning for approval and taking the most appropriate decision in this regard, then start preparing the initial drafts of urban strategies at the national and regional levels and providing the relevant authorities with the initial drafts for study.
