Muscat, The National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre weather analysis indicates that a tropical depression has been observed north east of the Arabian Sea today, located at longitude (68.2 E) and latitude (22.3 N) with estimated surface wind speed around the center 17-27 knots (31-50 km/hour).
It is expected to intensify and move west to northwest along the coast of India and Pakistan with a chance of clouds advection over the northern governorates with no direct impact over the Sultanate during the next 48 hours. NWP indicates moving towards Oman Sea and chances of rain over the northern governorates of the Sultanate.
Sea state will be moderate to rough along coasts of the Arabian Sea and South A’Sharqiya with wave height ranging from 3.0 to 4.0 metres and moderate to rough 1.5 to 3.0 along Oman Sea coastal areas starting from 1 October.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) advises all to check the sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins and reports
