Paris, The Sultanate represented by the Permanent Delegate to UNESCO will take part in the 205th session of the UNESCO Executive Board currently being held in the UNESCO HQs’ in Paris and continues up to October 17th. The Sultanate is a member of this Executive Council.
The agenda of the meeting includes discussing a number of issues related to the UNESCO goals and priorities. The participants will also discuss the UNESCO’s budget and programs, the initial proposal of the Director General on the draft budget for the period from 2020 to 2021, as well as some administrative and financial issues.
Dr. Samira bint Mohammed al- Moosa, the Sultanate Permanent Delegate to the UNESCO and Chairperson of the Program and External Relations Committee delivered the Sultanate’s speech during the pubic sessions of the meeting. She stressed the importance of sustaining and enhancing global ethics, respect for human rights and peaceful settlement of disputes. She pointed out that the UNESCO has a number of good and effective programs that should be implemented on urgent bases to meet the member countries’ needs and national interests. She also pointed out to the importance of rational use of the UNESCO’s financial resources to implement and enhance its programs in reality.
