Muscat, Watermelon is considered one of the main summer agricultural crops in the Sultanate that is characterized by high quality and productivity.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for 2019, as many as 4,162 acres were grown with watermelon, which produced 56,616 tons, compared to 4,120 acres and 56,047 tons in 2018.
Many farmers in various governorates of the Sultanate are interested in growing watermelons. The price per ton of watermelon ranges between RO 140-150.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries provides many services in the field of modern technologies in support of farmers, such as fixing modern irrigation systems, protecting shades, the distribution of spraying machines and sticky traps to eliminate white fly that affects watermelon.
