Ashgabat, The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, is participating in the International Conference on ” The Silk Road: Current and Future Development in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The Ministry of Heritage and Culture is represented in the conference by Rahma bint Qasim al- Farsiyah, Director-General of Museums.
The conference comes within the framework of the interest that many countries have begun to show to the Silk Road system. Also, the Sultanate is an active member of the Silk Road Project initiatives, in particular its success in hosting the fourth meeting of the UNESCO International Network for the Silk Road Platform. Therefore, it’s been invited to this conference as one of the five countries supporting the Silk Road Digital Platform alongside China, Germany, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. In addition, the presence of the Sultanate in this conference adds to the importance represented by the Silk Roads in the history and heritage of Oman.
The conference brings together ministers, high-level representatives and experts from some 47 countries. The conference aims at highlighting the importance of the Silk Road for Sustainable Development; discussing the potential of the Silk Road’s common heritage to promote intercultural dialogue and international cooperation in today’s societies; providing a platform to exchange experience, expertise in achieving the 2030 agenda.
