Muscat, Eid Al Fitr celebrated in the Sultanate of Oman and Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al- Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, performed Eid Al Fitr prayer at Al Khour Mosque in Muscat on Friday morning on the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
Sayyid Fahd was accompanied during the Eid prayers by their highnesses; members of the royal family, the Chairmen of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura, ministers, undersecretaries, advisors and prominent figures.
Sheikh Dr. Is’haq bin Ahmed al- Busaidi, Chairman of the Supreme Court, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council led the Eid prayer. He began the Eid sermon with Takbir (exclaiming Allah is Great), glorifying and thanking Allah the Almighty for His many blessings, praying on the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), thanking Allah for completing the fasting of Ramadhan and making easy for ways of charity and doing well.
The Khutba (sermon) covered the reward of Allah for those who kept the fast during Ramadhan, highlighting the commands of Allah the Almighty and rejection of evil doings, in addition to lessons from praying, fasting and reciting the Holy Quran. The sermon also called on avoiding differences and disunity.
Sheikh Dr. Al- Busaidi added that you are in a day where earth, sun and heavens are happy. You have fasted and prayed at night following the tradition of our prophet Mohammed (PBUH). You came today making Takbeer and thanking Allah for the righteous religion, Sharia and order.
He noted that this is a great and glorious day where those who are close to or far away from us meet. It is a day that concluded the holy month of Ramadhan, the best time of the year.
He noted that Allah has been generous by providing us from amongst all nations with this religion. This religion has been the reason for our dignity and victory. Islam has gathered us and made us the best Umma in the world. Allah said ‘ You are the best ummah singled out for mankind: you enjoin what is right (ma’roof), forbid what is wrong (munkar), and believe in Allah.
He affirmed that maintaining the unity and discarding division is a sharia mandate and inevitable duty.
He noted that the unity of a nation manifests well at the time of hardships and crisis, such as floods, cyclones and other disasters. The true morals and manners of Muslims will appear during this time.
At the end of the Khutba, he appealed to Allah to ensure many happy returns of the day for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and to grant him good health, happiness and a long life. He also prayed to Allah to safeguard the Sultanate of Oman and all Muslim countries and unify all Muslims towards good.
After the Eid prayer, Sayyid Fahd received the well-wishers on this occasion. They expressed their best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, praying to Allah the Almighty to grant His Majesty continuous health, happiness and a long life and the Sultanate of Oman further progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.
Sayyid Fahd thanked all well-wishers, wishing them a blessed and happy Eid. He prayed to Allah the Almighty for the return of this happy and other similar occasions on His Majesty the Sultan for many years to come with blessings and wellbeing, grant him His Majesty success for the good of this dear country and to achieve further progress, peace and stability for the Sultanate and its people under his prosperous reign.
