Muscat, The Sultanate, represented in the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and in collaboration with the Internet Society (ISOC) hosted the third regional workshop and the third meeting on internet policies.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Hamad bin Salim Al-Rawahy, Executive President of TRA.

This comes within the efforts made to keep abreast of the digital transformation and laying a solid base towards the creation of a sound legal and regulatory environment.

This event is complementary to the previous workshops and meeting held between governments and all the relevant stakeholders to discuss issues of mutual interest relating to the internet.

The workshop addressed a number of important internet issues, such as shifting from IPv4 to IPv6 edition, the best practices and practical experiments in IXPs, highlighting the role of Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), discussing the encryption techniques and reviewing the latest updates on cloud services and data centers.

The meeting also took note of the preparedness of the internet infrastructure in the region and reviewed the proposed guidelines relating to the safety and confidentiality of the services provided over the internet and discussed other relevant issues of ICT sector.
