Papal Ambassador to Lebanon, Joseph Spiteri, visited on Saturday Mufti of Saida Sheikh Salim Susan, at his Dar El-Ifta office in Sidon, accompanied by the Savior's General Order Head, Archimandrite Antoine Dib, with talks touching on the prevailing situation in Lebanon and the region.

The Papal Nuncio expressed his joy for meeting with Mufti Susan, praising his wisdom and insight. "We will work with each other for the good of Lebanon, Sidon and the whole region," Spiteri promised.

Asked about the situation in Lebanon, the Papal Ambassador said: "The Lebanese are a smart and creative people and know how to deal with the circumstances and overcome them and how to live against all odds."

"Everyone should work together for the good of Lebanon and we ask the Lord Almighty to help them," Spiteri maintained.

For his part, Mufti Susan welcomed the Papal Nuncio in the city of Sidon, saying: "It was a tour d'horizon on the keenness of His Holiness the Pope on Lebanon and its people, and the unity of the Lebanese and the coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Lebanon, rejecting all the anomalous and distortion voices here and there that are offensive to the Lebanese people, their coexistence and to significant symbols in this country."
