Muscat, The Sultanate represented by the Ministry
of Health (MOH) will take part in the 71st World Health Assembly
(WHA71) meetings, which will be held from tomorrow Monday 21st of
May in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Sultanate’s delegation will be led by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed
al-Saidi, Minister of Health.
The WHA71 agenda will discuss the report of the Executive Board
on its 141st and 142nd sessions and on its special session on the draft
thirteenth general programme of work, 2019-2023, report of main
committees, as well as addressing several strategic priority matters
along with management and legal matters.
The meeting will also include side events that touch upon the
global action on patient safety for achieving effective Universal Health
Coverage � Oman, the Geneva Forum for Health 2018, and the
International Diabetes Federation (IDF) panel discussion on diabetes
and nutrition education.
On the sidelines of the WHA71, Minister of Health will take part in
the 5th Consultative Technical Meeting for Arab Health Ministers. Dr.
al-Saidi will meet the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Health Ministers
and the Health Ministers of Brunei and Lutuania. The Minister
furthermore will highlight the 2020 World Cancer Leaders’ Summit and
World Cancer Congress which will be hosted by Oman.
