Rome, The Sultanate took part in 34th session of
the regional conference of the Near East for the Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) of which deliberations
are being held at the FAO’s HQs in the Italian Capital, Rome during 7
till 11 May 2018.
The Sultanate’s delegation is being led by Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser
al-Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for
Agriculture. Dr. al-Bakri met with Jose Graziano da Silva, FAO Director
General during which they exchanged viewpoints on the ongoing joint
projects, due to be held in the Sultanate.
Deliberations of the conference, which involves agriculture
ministers, senior officials, civil community institutions and private sector
from various countries, addressed regulatory matters relating to
policies at the regional and international levels that include adaptation
to the climate change in the semi-arid zones to achieve sustainable
agricultural development among other topics.
