Sultanate Participates at 99th IMO Meeting

London, The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, today took part at the 99th meeting of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which is currently held in London.

The Sultanate’s official delegation, led by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed al-Kiyoumi, Director General of Maritime Affairs at the Ministry Transport and Communications, comprises Mohammed bin Ali al-Balushi, Deputy Chairman of the Continental Shelf and Maritime Affairs Office at the Foreign Ministry.

The meeting renewed the inclusion of the Sultanate at the white list for the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) for the next five years after the technical committee has accepted the reports submitted earlier by the Ministry of Transport and Communications on the test procedures and issuance of certificates for the seafarers and the mechanism for supervising the International Maritime College Oman.
