Sultanate Joins Global Program to Fight RPW

Muscat, The Sultanate, represented by the

Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, today signed an agreement with

the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations on

the Sultanate’s accession to the Global Program to Fight Red Palm

Weevil (RPW).

The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser al-Bakri,

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and Norah

Ourabah Haddad, FAO Representative in the Sultanate.

FAO initiative is to develop a strategy through cooperation and

coordination of efforts at the regional and global levels to support

integrated management programmes for the RPW eradication.
