State Council’s Economic Committee Discusses Living Aquatic Resources Law

Muscat, The Economic Committee of the State Council discussed today the “Living Aquatic Resources Law”, referred from the Council of Ministers, and Related Majlis A’Shura’s report.

The Committee, at its 12th meeting of the 3rd annual sitting of the 6th term under the chair of honorable Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Harthy, Head of the committee, in the presence of members of the committee and a number of officials of the Secretariat General, reviewed the justification of the project and the desired objectives, the most important of which is regulating commercial fishing activity, exploiting fisheries in deep-sea and remote sea locations and in no way interfering with the interests of artisanal fishermen.

During the meeting, the committee discussed the remarks of the members of the committee on some of the project articles that serve this activity. The committee also adopted the minutes of its previous meeting and reviewed the follow up report on the implementation of the decisions taken thereon.
