State Council Office Discusses Amending Economic Development Law

Muscat, The State Council Office today

discussed the proposal submitted by the Economic Committee on the

amendment of the Economic Development Law.

At its 12th meeting of the 3rd annual sitting of the 6th term

under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh al-Manthri, Chairman of the

State Council, the Office hosted Honorable Sheikh Mohammed bin

Abdullah al-Harthy, Head of the Economic Committee and Honorable

Dr. Badria bint Ibrahim al-Shehia, Rapporteur of the Committee, for

discussing the proposal aimed at reviewing the general provisions of

the Economic Development Law, the requirements for its updating in

line with the changes in the structure of the national economy, in

addition to the legal review and the specific terms of reference,

underlying the overlaps with subsequent relevant laws, focusing on

everything that is related to the planning, implementation and follow-up

of development projects and other stages of the law.

Following its discussion of the proposal, the Office decided to

refer it to the general session of the State Council.

The Office approved the Council’s budget for the year 2019. It

also reviewed the follow-up report of the activities of the committees

during the period between its previous meeting and this meeting.

At the end of its meeting, the Office outlined the items and

agendas of its regular meetings from the 10th to 13th meetings of the

third annual sitting of the sixth term, scheduled for 26 and 27 June,

and 3 and 4 July 2018.
