Muscat, The State Council today held its fourth

ordinary session for the fourth annual sitting of the sixth term under the

chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh al- Manthri, Chairman of the State

Council.

At the beginning of the session, the chairman of the State Council

delivered a speech in which he pointed out that the session will be

devoted to discussing the draft law ” Organizing the Practice of

Medicine and Allied Medical Professions” referred by the Council of

Ministers and Majlis A’Shura and the report of the Social Committee

about it, adding that the Council will discuss tomorrow at its fifth

session the request of the Economic Committee to study a proposal

about ” Amendment of the Economic Development Law issued by

Royal Decree No.9/75 “, in addition to a number of reports on the work

of the Council.

(Hon) Dr. Hamad bin Sulaiman al-Salami, Head of the Social

Committee of the Council, presented the committee’s statement on the

draft law, pointing out that its importance comes from organizing a

profession related to human health. He added that the law The draft

law organizes the practice of medicine and allied medical professions

regulates the profession of medicine and medical professions. He

pointed out that law comes in response of the competent authorities for

the importance of modernizing the medicine and dentistry law currently

in force to cope with the latest developments in this field.

During their discussion of the draft law, the (hon) members of the

State council stressed its importance in keeping abreast of recent

developments in the field of health care and ensuring the quality of

medical service provided to the beneficiaries.
