Muscat, In light of the accelerated progress and openness of knowledge and planning for a better future in the field of counselling psychology, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by the Student Counselling Center, will organize a conference entitled “Challenges of Knowledge Openness from 13 to 15 November 2018 under the patronage of Dr. Sultan bin Ya’arub al-Busaidi, Advisor for Ministry of Health.
The three-day conference aims to assess the reality of the counseling services field in public and private institutions; learn about successful models and field experiences from different counseling centers and offices; and identify counseling preventive programs at counseling centers of public and private institutions. It also seeks to identify contemporary issues, challenges and difficulties in the field of counseling under the openness of knowledge, the investment of the Internet and social networks in counseling services from all fields of counseling; and to promote a culture of awareness of the counseling and mental health to all members of community.
The target group of the conference includes psychologists, mental health professionals, counselors specialized in all fields of counseling in public and private sector institutions, university professors in the field of counseling psychology, directors of counseling centers, units or offices, etc. Graduate students and researchers in psychological counseling, and mental health, working with student cases and workers in humanitarian fields.
The conference addresses seven main themes: the use of modern technology in the service of counseling and its branches, the challenges of the counseling culture, preventive and developmental guidance, the impact of the guiding labor standards in light of knowledge openness, the university counseling centers, psychological counseling and its branches in public and private, finally, the counseling in service for individuals and communities.
