Muscat, As part of the third phase of its strategic plan 2021-2025, the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) today launched a “social insurance forum” aimed to explore opportunities and address the challenges facing its 5-year plan.

The three-day forum, held at Al Irfan City's JW Marriott Hotel, was opened by Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al-Busaidi, Civil Service Ministry’s Under-Secretary for Administrative Development Affairs.

In a statement to reporters, Sayyid Salim stressed the significance of the forum to workers, particularly in the private sector, due to the number of specialist research papers dealing with insurance and social protection. He pointed out that the forum will review PASI’s plan with a view to generating ideas to devise the authority’s strategy in a manner that corresponds to Oman 2040 Vision.

In particular, the forum will study the experiences of other countries and derive lessons from them, said Sayyid Salim, adding that emphasis will be laid on mechanisms of strategic planning and their efficiency in fostering societal partnership and involvement of decision makers in molding the 3rd phase of PASI’s strategic plan.

The forum also looks into the role of investment in enhancing the sustainability of insurance systems, as well as the role of information technology in promoting the mission of social insurance and social protection systems and enabling them to reach beneficiaries as smoothly as possible.
