Muscat, The Ministry of Social Development Represented by the Directorate General for the Disabled Affairs today evening celebrated the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) under the theme Empowering Persons with Disabilities and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Monem bin Mansour al-Hassni, Minister of Information in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sa’ayid al-Kalbani, Minister of Social Development and a number of ministers, members of State Council, undersecretaries, members of Majlis A’Shura, representative of the private sector organizations that support the disabled, chairmen of the civil society organizations operating in this field and parents of the participants at the event.
The chief guest viewed a presentation titled ‘Sharakah’, which highlighted a number of projects that meet the needs of persons with disabilities. The projects were funded by the private sector organizations as part of their CSR programs.
The chief guest honored a number of retirees in the field of disabilities and the organizations that support disability program. The ceremony included an operetta titled ‘ Hekaya’ which embodied the different auditory, motor, visual and mental disabilities and the efforts made by the people with disabilities to address the challenges and difficulties facing them.
