Seeb, Oman’s representative at the AFC Cup 2022 West Zone semifinals, are in good shape to meet Kuwait’s Arabi SC on Monday. The match will take place at the latter’s home at Kuwait Sports Club Stadium in Kuwait city and it will start at 9:00 pm (Oman time).
Seeb’s delegation will take off to Kuwait City on Friday and will have their first training session in Kuwait on Saturday. The main warm-up for Seeb club at the venue of the match will be on Sunday ahead of the fixture on Monday.
The head coach of Seeb team, llie Stan, is aware of the importance of the game. He will depend on different key players in the team to end the game on positive result including Oman’s national team stars Abdulaziz al Maqbali, Mohsin al Ghassani, Eid al Farsi, Marwan al Siyabi and others. The team did various training sessions at the club besides some practice sessions at the beach.
In the previous year, Seeb managed to lift double titles of HM Cup and Omantel League. Then, the team began the new season with strong start as they have crowned with the historic maiden title of 2022 Super Cup after they edged past Al Nahdha 2-0 in the summit clash at Al Saada Sports Complex in Salalah.
The Super Cup champions began the 2022-23 top-tier league on a successful note. They edged past new arrivals Al Bashaer club 3-0 at Seeb Sports Stadium. Then, Seeb was held to a 2-2 draw by Al Musannah in the following round. On Tuesday, Seeb defeated Sur 2-1.
It is expected that Seeb will eye this season to impress at the Asian level in AFC Cup as well. Seeb managed to reach into the West Zone semifinals as they had secured spot in the group which featured Lebanon’s Al Ansar, Kuwait’s SC and Jebalh of Syria.
The West Zone final, to be hosted by the winners of the Arabi SC-Al Seeb Club tie, will be held on October 4. The other semifinal will be between Bahraini clubs East Riffa and Al Riffa and it is scheduled on Tuesday.
