Sayyid Theyazin Presides Over Opening of FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 Championship


HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth today presided over the opening ceremony of the FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 Championship hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.

Thirty-two international teams (16 men and 16 women) will compete to win the trophy of the hockey-five-asides ‘Oman 2024’, which will take place from 24 to 31 January 2024.

The opening ceremony was held in the Wilayat of Mutrah in the presence of some Royal Family members, ministers, Tayyab Ikram, the President of the International Federation, and representatives of the participating teams.

Men’s group brings together the teams of: the Sultanate of Oman, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Nigeria, Australia, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, India, Egypt, Switzerland, Jamaica, Malaysia, the United States of America and Fiji.

The women’s group comprises: Netherlands, Malaysia, Fiji, the Sultanate of Oman, Australia, South Africa, Zambia, Ukraine, India, the United States of America, Poland, Namibia, New Ze
aland, Paraguay, Thailand and Uruguay.

Sixteen matches will be held in the first day in women’s group, respectively, as follows:

1. Ukraine vs Australia

2. South Africa vs Zambia

3. Oman vs Malaysia

4. Netherlands vs Fiji

5. India vs Poland

6. The United States of America vs Namibia

7. New Zealand vs Thailand

8. Paraguay vs Uruguay

9. Ukraine vs Zambia

10.South Africa vs Australia

11.Malaysia vs the Netherlands

12.Oman vs Fiji

13.Poland vs Namibia

14.The United States of America vs India

15.Thailand vs Paraguay

16.Uruguay vs New Zealand.
