Salalah, Salalah Khareef Forum for Woman
Sports between Management and Training kicked off at the Hilton Hotel
in the Governorate of Dhofar today under the theme “We Meet to
Promote Woman Sports”. The forum was organised by the Omani
Woman Sports Committee at the Oman Olympic Committee, in
cooperation with the Organising Committee of Salalah Tourism Festival
2018 and the Ministry of Sport Affairs, represented by the Woman
The forum was opened under the patronage of Sheikha Naima
Al Ahmad Al Jaber al-Sabah, Chairperson of the GCC Woman Sports
Organizing Committee in the presence of Sayyeda Sana bint Hamad
al-Busaidi, Chairperson of Oman Woman Sports Committee, Taha bin
Suleiman al-Kushari, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic
Committee and Sheikh Badr bin Ali al-Rowas, Member of Oman
The forum aims to shed light on the achievements of Omani
women in the Sultanate, review some of the Omani and Gulf stories
and experiences in women’s sport, exchange expertise and knowledge
in this field, and the convergence of ideas in government and private
institutions, in addition to linking sport with tourism.
The sponsors and participants in the activities of the forum were
honoured, including Oman Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Sport
Affairs, Management of Salalah Tourism Festival, Dhofar Municipality,
the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), Salalah Methanol Company and
the Dhofar International Company.
Sheikha Naima Al Ahmad Al Jaber al-Sabah, reviewed Kuwait’s
experience in woman sports, followed by a number of working papers,
including, “Woman Sport and Woman Teams,” “Woman Sport from
Practice to Competition” and “The Importance of Warm-up and
Stretching in the Prevention of Sports Injuries”.
An open discussion session was held after the completion of the
submission of the three papers, in addition to answering questions
raised by the attendees.
The first day of the forum will be concluded with the visit to the
Sultan Qaboos Cultural and Recreation Complex and the Salalah
Tourism Festival at the Municipality Recreational Center.
