Tehran, May 10 (ONA) — The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and a
number of vessels of the naval fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran
carried out the joint naval exercise “Search and Rescue” in the
territorial waters of Iran. The drill was conducted within the framework
of the RNO’s training plans with sisterly and friendly countries, which
aims at exchanging experiences and maintaining high efficiency in
various military fields.
The annual exercise comes on the sidelines of the meetings of
the joint Omani-Iranian Military Friendship Committee, which were held
in the Iranian capital, Tehran during 4 to 10 May. The two sides
discussed a range of topics on the agenda of the meeting that would
contribute in upgrading the level of relations and strengthening ties of
the existing cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The exercise was attended by Brigadier Hamad bin Rashid al-
Balushi, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, Head of
the Omani side in the Omani-Iranian Military Friendship Committee and
Head of the Iranian side in the Omani-Iranian Military Friendship
Committee and members of the Committee.
