Kinshasa, The Constitutional Court of the Congo
announced today the victory of Rival Opposition Candidate Felix
Tshisekedi in the presidential elections, which was run last month.
The verdict came after the court rejected an appeal by Democratic
Republic of Congo opposition leader Martin Fayulu in the election
results.
Fayulu claimed that Tshisekedi and outgoing President Joseph
Kabila had a secret deal after initial results showed that Emmanuel
Ramzani Chadari, Kabila’s favorite candidate, came third.
Western countries have not yet congratulated Tshisekedi on his
victory, as France has expressed concern about the official results, in
which Chisekedi won.
