Muscat, The number of pensioners registered
with public sector pension funds in the Sultanate at the end of
November 2018 stood at 201,244 comprising a rise by 0.1% compared
to October 2018.
According to the latest data released by the National Centre for
Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of pensioners in
September 2018 included 118,620 males and 82,624 females.
According to categories of wages subject to contribution, the highest
number of pensioners are in the wage category from RO 1000 to less
than RO 2000, reaching 59,930 pensioners. This is followed by the
category from RO 700 to less than RO 800, reaching 40,515.
Similarly, in the category of wages, the number of pensioners with
wages from RO 800 to less than 900 is 29,454. The number of
pensioners with wages from RO 325 and less than RO 400 is 23,640.
There are 18,116 pensioners with salary ranging from RO 500 to less
than RO 600, and 18,033 pensioners with salary from RO 600 to less
than RO 700. The lowest number of pensioners were in the wage
category from RO 2000 and above, reaching 3,447.
Among governorates, Muscat topped the list with 38,324 pensioners,
followed by Al-Batinah North with 34,334 pensioners. A’Dakhliyah,
Dhofar and A’Sharqiyah South followed this with 25,674, 21,021, and
16,755, respectively. Al-Wusta had the lowest number of pensioners,
with the number reaching 1,783.
