Muscat, The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 2,069 residential land-plots across the Sultanate till the end of January 2020, compared to 2,939 land-plots during the same period of 2019, constituting a decrease of 29.6%, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Governorate of Dhofar was allotted 795 residential lands until the end of January 2020, which is the highest among the governorates. North A'Sharqiya followed this with 410 land-plots, North Al Batinah with 228, Muscat with 216, and A'Dakhliya with 193 land-plots allotted until the end of January 2020.
The governorates of South A'Sharqiya, South Al Batinah, A'Dhahira, Musandam, and Al Buraimi were allotted 87, 59, 48, 14, and 13 residential lands, respectively. Al Wusta was allotted 6 land-plots, which is the lowest among the governorates.
Meanwhile, the Governorates of Dhofar, North Al Batinah and A'Dhahira witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of lands allotted until the end of January 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 whereas allotment of land-plots in the rest of the governorates showed a marked decline during the period of study.
The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 28,099 land-plots in 2019.
