Muscat, The Public Prosecution urged citizens
and residents in the Sultanate to abide by provisions of the Arms and
Ammunition Law and to refrain from firing shots at national, social and
religious occasions. The Public Prosecution stressed that it would take
legal measures against anyone violating the law.
The Public Prosecution said in a statement today that it has
been noted that the firing of non-distress shots is still ongoing in some
governorates of the Sultanate, whether during national, social or
religious occasions.
In light of the dangers posed by these acts to the safety of
individuals and public property, and in confirmation of what has already
been published through various media means in accordance with the
Judicial Circular No. 22/2015, the Public Prosecution calls upon all
citizens and residents to respect provisions of the Arms and
Ammunition Law, and not to fire at national, social and religious
occasions.
