Muscat, Over the past three days (26-28 October), Courts of First Instance in different governorates of the Sultanate issued penal verdicts convicting seven offenders who breached the decisions of the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The suspects were awarded verdicts ranging between six-month prison terms and fines of RO 1,000 plus deportation from Oman for expatriates.

The legal process was initiated by the Public Prosecution Department. The department interrogated the suspects who beached the ban on nighttime movement or failed to wear face masks or commit themselves to prescribed home quarantine periods. Then, the Public Prosecution Department transferred the cases to the designated courts.
